CUT THE ‘young man’ STUFF

Quando terminei a faculdade com 21 anos de idade alguém me chamou de "jovem quadro". Comecei a minha carreira profissional ainda estudante universitário, como Consultor Financeiro na maior empresa do mundo do sector financeiro da altura, a AIG - American International Group, outro me chamou "young man" pelos 4 anos que la fiquei. Quando assumi a Direcção Comercial da Ímpar com apenas 24 anos de idade e por 2 anos consecutivos chamara-me de "jovem". Estive na afirmação da Bolsa de Valores de Cabo Verde e escutei imensas vezes "jovens inteligentes e irreverentes". Lancei a segunda operadora de comunicações móveis em Cabo Verde, como Director Comercial e Marketing da T+ Telecomunicações, quebrando o monopólio da Cabo Verde Telecom, escutando sempre "young man". Fui consultor na Enacol como "jovem marketeer". Criei e lancei a CVTNegócios como um dos Directores da CVTelecom apelidado sempre de "jovem"... enfim, mesmo trabalhando arduamente e com resultados palpáveis e públicos, sempre há os que querem sentir-se gentis se distanciando e arrumando-te no armário dos "jovens". Graças a Deus que deixei de escutar esta narrativa paternalista, condescendente quando cheguei aos Estados Unidos. Aqui em 5 anos tive dois empregos, enquanto Assistant Vice President, Small Business Banker, na Bank of America, por 2 anos e meio, e na maior empresa de Telecom e Media do mundo, a Comcast, como Senior Business Account Executive, por outros 2 anos e meio. Geri mais de 5 cidades na Greater Boston Region sem nunca ter sido chamado de 'young man'.

So please, "CUT THE 'young man' STUFF!
